About the conference: Lavoie will explore the relationship between learning disabilities and social difficulties and will identify the specific causes for certain social skill deficits. Field tested strategies will be presented that can be used to assist children and adolescents in gaining peer acceptance and developing age-appropriate social skills.

About Lavoie: It’s So Much Work to Be Your Friend: Helping the Child with Learning Disabilities Find Social Success, Lavoie’s most recent book, was called “helpful and touching” by the NY Times and “groundbreaking” by Library Journal. Lavoie is also the award-winning producer of the films "How Difficult Can This Be?: The F.A.T. City Workshop" and "Last One Picked, First One Picked On: The Social Implications of Learning Disabilities." His numerous national television appearances include CBS Morning Show, Good Morning America, ABC Evening News, and Disney Channel Presents. Lavoie has spoken to more than 500,000 parents and professionals at conferences throughout the world.
